There are many types of spa treatments available in Southern Africa. If you have never indulged in a spa treatment before, then have please read about the range of South Africa spa treatments listed below, offered at the different hotels & botique guest houses.

Salt Glow (also known as a salt scrub or sea salt scrub):
A popular treatment for exfoliating your skin. In the process, your outmost dead skin cells, which make the skin look dull, are removed. Because the salt used is combined with rich oils and other creative ingredients that a spa can choose to use, your skin will be left hydrated, giving it an instant glow. The treatment is followed by an application of fragrant lotion that leaves your skin looking and smelling superior.

Body Wrap:
In this detox body treatment, your body will be covered in a body mask made of ingredients such as seaweed, mud, cream or lotion, algae (depending on the type of wrap you are going for). The wrap will be left on for about 20 minutes, and will be rinsed off, usually under a Vinchy shower, leaving your skin feeling and looking rejuvenated and soft. This treatment also works in improving your blood circulation.

Body Polish:
This exfoliation treatment uses friction massage to get rid of dull, irregular and dry skin. The massage is then followed by a shower, and completed with an application of tailored moisturizing. This treatment does away with impurities, dry and flaky skin while replenishing lost moisture. As a result, your skin will be left smoother, softer, and hydrated.

Mud Therapy Body Treatment:
In this treatment, imported healing mud is combined with stimulating plant extracts and Restorative Clay, and then applied to your whole body from neck to toes. After the mud application, you will be wrapped in thermal blankets and bathed in infrared light. A Vinchy shower that follows will melt away all your tensions. You will emerge from this treatment with a glowing revived skin.

Vine Therapy:
A full body oxygenating exfoliation using crushed grape seeds and pinotage oil, followed by a rejuvenating crystal bath and body wrap to improve circulation. Vine therapy is an extraordinary and deluxe way to eliminate stress.

Vichy Shower Treatment: This refreshing shower treatment is either applied on its own, or is used for washing other treatments that would have been applied on your skin. Vinchy showers usually have between 5 and seven shower heads, and involve having water of different pressures and temperatures cascade over your body erasing away all your tension and offering you immense relaxation.

Hot stone massage:
A therapeutic body massage that uses smooth heated basalt rocks to warm the body while relaxing the muscles and calming the soul. The heat releases tension from muscles, and the stones’ weight provide physical and mental comfort.

Thai massage:
Developed by Buddhist monks in Thailand 2500 years ago, this type of body massage takes place on a futon mat on the floor, and involves having a therapist use stretching techniques to open your body. It is almost like yoga, only with not as much effort.

Swedish massage:
This is the most common type of massage, and makes use of gentle pressure on muscles to improve circulation, ease the muscle tension, encourage relaxation, and improve flexibility. The therapist can choose to use various scented massage oils to assist those long caressing movements she will be making on your body.

Twin Massage:
A divine massage carried out by two professionally trained therapists at once. Whilst one masseur works on your left hand side, the other carries out coordinated massage on the right.

Shiahatsu:
