Glentana:
Glentana, stunningly poised high above the Indian Ocean, offers the ultimate in seclusion, privacy and luxury.
Looking for total anonymity? Glentana, a romantic timber lodge situated on 43 remote hectares on the ocean's edge with only birds and the surge of the waves breaking the silence, is the perfect escape.
Perched on the clifftop between Glentana beach and the Maalgate River on the rugged Garden Route coastline, Glentana maintains Fancourt's world-renowned standards of excellence and symbolizes the vision of its owners Sabine and Hasso Plattner to add exciting new dimensions to tourism in South Africa.
In contrast to the rough terrain the lodge is relaxing and very comfortable. Blue dominates in the elegant decor to reflect the ocean view which extends to the horizon. Picture wall charts remind one that dolphins and whales often frolick in the waters below.
Designed with more than honeymooners in mind (there is one coy bedroom), the spacious proportions of the living area can accommodate one-day executive think tanks in comfort, for highly private corporate meetings.
In addition to an extensive lounge, a covered verandah deck with outdoor seating runs along two sides of the building. There are two showers and toilets, a well-equipped kitchen and gas-generated power.
A small private golden beach is accessed by a wooden stairway of 200 steps.

Courses:
There is no doubt that Fancourt is South Africa’s premier golf resort, featuring three highly rated Championship golf courses as well as the Western Cape’s premier 18-hole public course.
Since opening in the early 90's with just 27 Gary Player-designed holes, Fancourt’s Outeniqua and Montagu golf courses have matured and developed into two of the finest 18-hole parkland layouts in the country. A round on either is a special experience, sculpted and finished as they are with rare attention to detail and designed with the coastal George winds in mind.
The Links at Fancourt was added in 2000, an awe-inspiring example of magnificent design and golf-course construction, about which designer Gary Player says: “Links golf is how the game originated and at The Links we take golfers back to the roots of golf – and they can play a ‘British Open’ all of their own!”
Lastly, Bramble Hill was added, a course that is distinctly Fancourt, yet has a friendly character all of its own. It is a course that can be tackled by beginner and seasoned campaigner alike, without the intimidation and pressure so often associated with celebrated championship courses.
In addition to four golf courses suited to every type of golfer, Fancourt boasts one of the finest golf academies in the world, with state-of-the-art practice and teaching facilities, backed up by the expertise of PGA professionals, as well as several well-stocked on-course pro shops offering all types of golf merchandise.
At the helm of golf course operations are two Directors of Golf, Mark Wiltshire (at The Links) and Jason Totos (at Outeniqua and Montagu), both of whom are on hand to ensure that your golfing experience at Fancourt is unrivalled.
The Montagu and Outeniqua
The Montagu and Outeniqua are two world class parkland layouts rated in the top 10 South African courses. Both courses are very similar and present a true test of golf in aesthetically beautiful surroundings.
The Links
The Links course opened in November 2000 and presents a very special, and unique to South Africa, golfing experience. You really could believe you are playing golf on the Scottish Coast.
Bramble Hill
Bramble Hill is the fourth course on the estate and is a Parkland course with Links features and offers a good mix of the estate's other three courses. The course is a public 'Pay for Play' facility and has been designed to offer golfers of every level a Fancourt experience.
The Montagu:
The Montagu is a much celebrated parkland course and has been ranked as the number-one golf course in South Africa in the past. It has recently undergone major renovations with several holes being redesigned and has two completely new holes – the 1st and the 9th.
"With golf critics becoming more discerning and the increase in new modern courses, we believed it was time to rejuvenate the Montagu layout and improve the course immeasurably," says Resort General Manager, Ingrid Diesel. " We believe the new-look course, which has now grown in superbly, has been restored to its former glory where it will once again hold its head high amongst the best in the world."
As with The Oteniqua, play is restricted to members, their guests and resort guests, so there is ample time and space to savour the Fancourt golfing experience. It is, however, always a good idea to book in advance to ensure that you get your desired tee time.
The warm-up area, featuring a full-length range and a chipping and bunker practice area, is available to all golfers before play.
Golf carts are available for hire, weather permitting, while knowledgeable caddies are available too. Please note that to improve your playing enjoyment and to ensure a steady pace-of-play, it is expected that there are at least two caddies for each fourball.
The Outeniqua:
The Outeniqua is one of two majestic 18-hole Parkland layouts at Fancourt. Designed by legendary Grand Slam golfer Gary Player, it is similar in character to its sibling The Montagu, and its challenging design and fine conditioning will ensure an excellent test for all levels of golfers. As with all courses at Fancourt, there are a variety of tees from which to choose to play, ensuring that golfers are unlikely to ever feel overpowered by the course.
As with The Montagu, play is restricted to hotel residents, members and their guests, so you are unlikely to ever feel crowded on the course, however, it is always a good idea to book in advance to ensure that you get your desired tee time.

Bramble Hill:
Bramble Hill is the fourth course at Fancourt, but it has a character all of its own. Built in response to a need for an 18-hole facility that would be accessible to the community of George and surrounding areas, Bramble Hill is truly a public golf course in the sense that there are no restrictions on who can play at any given time.
Bramble Hill offers a golf experience that is relaxed and friendly, without any “private country club” intimidation! The course itself is challenging enough to test the most proficient golfer, yet it is sure to be an enjoyable round even for beginners.
Bramble Hill shares six holes with the Fancourt Golf Academy at the moment, but plans are underway to create six new holes adjacent to Bramble Hills 12 holes, which will mean that it will feature its own entire 18-hole layout in the near future.
The course shares many characteristics with its highly pedigreed sibling The Links, with undulating fairways, raised greens and a number of treacherous water hazards and can be exposed to the typically fresh Southern Cape winds.
Unique to South African layouts, Bramble Hill has a fun “practice hole” between the 10th and 11th holes, which is a character-filled little par three where golfers are given a respite from the concentration of the round – or it is a place to have a little mid-game wager with your playing partners.
In keeping with Fancourt, Bramble Hill features a modern, facility rich clubhouse, as well as a well-stocked pro shop, with a wide range of competitively priced golf merchandise. On hand to offer expert advice are a number of resident PGA professionals, headed up by Jayde Tannous. Among the assistants are Tyronne Farell, Werner Bernardt, Wynand Myburgh and Francois de Lange.
