NKWALI CAMP
NKWALI CAMP is located on Robin's
private land, overlooking the National
Park. The land is superb gameviewing
country, with a beautiful area of ebony
woodland and open grass plains. Elephants
often cross the Luangwa, seen from the
bar, or come to the waterhole near the
thatched dining room. The chalets are
cool and spacious, overlooking the river.
Access to the park is through the main
entrance over the bridge, by boat or
by our nearby pontoon. The area is famous
for leopard and giraffe sightings.

- en suite bathrooms
- open all year
- walking, drives & night drives
NSEFU CAMP
NSEFU CAMP - On a sweeping bend of the
river, 12 kilometers north of Tena Tena,
lies Nsefu. Nsefu was the first game
camp in Zambia and dates back to the
early fifties. The Nsefu Sector was
recognised then as a phenomenal area
and it still is. We reopened the camp
in 1999, in keeping with the original
style, and so operate the only 2 camps
in the Nsefu Sector of the park.
The view of the river is superb and
includes a terraced area where game
grazes during the day. The bar, tucked
in beside a huge extinct termite mound,
overlooks a waterhole that is very
productive for game, especially leopard
at night. The original rondavels have
been extended, with a spacious bathroom
added. Each room has a clear view
of the river, through large windows
and from the new wooden verandah.
The camp lies in the heart of the
undeveloped Nsefu sector and so offers
charm and total comfort in remoteness
and seclusion.

- en suite bathrooms
- open late May - October
- walking, drives, night drives

TENA TENA CAMP
"TENA TENA CAMP ... is altogether
beyond superlatives, and must be one
of the best safari camps in the whole
of Africa", The Times, London.
This remote and small camp lies within
the National Park and enjoys a stunning
location on a sweeping bend of the Luangwa
River. A grove of mahogany trees shade
the large custom-made tents. From the
thatched dining room and bar, guests
can watch the elephants, hippo and antelope
on the riverbank. Nearby there is a
spectacular lagoon, Buca Buca, where
a whole morning can be spent quietly
sitting while the game comes down to
feed and drink. With the camp being
remote and small, we have these scenes
to ourselves.

- en suite bathrooms
- open late May - October

SAUSAGE TREE AND CHIAWA CAMP
INFORMATION
SAUSAGE TREE
SAUSAGE TREE is located in the Lower
Zambezi National Park along the northern
bank of the Zambezi River, downstream
from Lake Kariba, opposite Mana Pools
National Park. The Lower Zambezi National
Park is un-spoilt with stunning scenery
and varied wildlife. The river is a
focal point for the abundant wildlife
including elephant, hippo, buffalo,
zebra, lion, cheetah, leopard and various
antelope species.
Sausage Tree Bush Camp is nestled amongst
mature mahogany trees and a large shady
Sausage Tree on the banks of the Zambezi
River. It is high on the river bank
overlooking a large reed bed bisected
by channels. The large, Bedouin-style
tents each have a river view. There
is a reading tent with a deck overlooking
the river and a main dining tent. The
Lower Zambezi is renowned for excellent
tiger fishing. All activities are designed
to guest requirements and weather conditions
prevailing at the time.
- 12 guests
- en suite open air bathrooms
- walking, drives, night drives,
canoeing, boating, fishing
CHIAWA CAMP
Set deep inside the park, on
the banks of the Zambezi River and in
the heart of big game country, Chiawa
Camp is owned and operated by the Cummings
family. The 8 ensuite tents, each set
on it's own elevated wooden platform,
over look the river where game is constantly
coming down to feed and water. In addition
to drives and walks, the camp offers
boating and fishing.

A TYPICAL DAY ON SAFARIS IN ZAMBIA:
We believe that everything
should be flexible and the length of
the game drives/walks depends on the
activity in the bush and the enthusiasm
of the guests. You will notice that
there are various options other than
game drives and walks. And the timings
of these options may vary, however the
general trend is as follows:
5.30 am: Wake up drum
5.45 am: Breakfast consisting of tea/coffee/toast/cereal/fruit
around the camp fire
6.15 am: Leave camp on drive or walk.
There will be a mid morning tea/coffee
and cake on the activity which is very
welcome at that point.
10.00-11.30: return to camp. This really
does depend on the guests, the temperature,
the wildlife and is certainly not a
set time.
12.00 noon: or around then- lunch which
is usually buffet style, with lots of
salads!
After lunch, there is now a change to
relax, read, sleep, watch the river,
the game passing by or swim in the pool
(Nkwali and Houses only).
3.30 pm: Afternoon tea and cake (yes
more to eat!). then leave for afternoon
activity. We have a tradition of stopping
for sundowners before driving on in
the night, so do not be surprised when
you are asked what you would like to
drink at tea time!
After sunset, the drive continues with
a spotlight to explore the nocturnal
life often an active time for the big
cats as well as a surprising number
of nocturnal creatures that are not
seen during the day.
8.00 pm: Return to camp for a drink,
shower, before dinner.
8.30 pm: Dinner is served. Then guests
usually gather around the fire for a
final nightcap before turning in for
a well earned sleep.
